# AI Detector for Teachers & Educators

GPTZero has all the tools teachers need to promote responsible AI adoption in their classroom.

## Our Commitment to Teachers

In November of 2022, ChatGPT’s release opened Pandora's box on massively available AI-generated content.

At GPTZero, we immediately knew the new challenge that AI could pose to information transparency and academic integrity. Within three months, we built the first AI detector with more than 300,000 teachers from 45 states and 30 countries using our tool to detect AI. We now have more than 3 million users and partner with universities and school systems around the world.

We’re evolving to keep up with the latest in AI detection and offer educators more holistic education solutions: writing reports, origin analysis, advanced scan, and interpretability metrics. With teachers, we want to empower you with the guardrails on technology in the classroom to foster originality, encourage critical thinking and prepare your students for the future with AI.

Much will change with AI technology, but our commitment to educators remains steadfast.

Sincerely,

Edward Tian

Founder & CEO, GPTZero

## General FAQs about GPTZero for Educators

### What is GPTZero and how does it detect AI?

GPTZero is the most trusted AI detector for education, designed to check if content was written by large language models such as ChatGPT, GPT-5, GPT-4, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity or Copilot. It provides document-level, sentence-level and even word-level analysis, highlighting the specific parts of a text that appear AI-generated.

### Why do teachers and educators need an AI detector?

More and more students are now using generative AI tools to create essays in mere seconds, and for educators, this brings up new questions around academic integrity and helping students see the value of their own voice. An AI detector can give teachers (and students) peace of mind when reviewing submissions, by quickly flagging work that appears to be AI-generated.

### Which AI models can GPTZero detect?

GPTZero detects text from ChatGPT (GPT-3, GPT-4, GPT-5), Gemini, Claude, Copilot and other major services.

### What languages can you scan using GPTZero?

Currently, GPTZero supports English, Spanish, French, German, and more. Detection is strongest in English prose, but the model continues to expand to other languages.

### How accurate is GPTZero’s AI detector?

Independent sources (including TechCrunch) have called GPTZero the [best and most reliable AI detector](https://gptzero.substack.com/p/gptzero-facebook-llama-leaks-and) available. In our internal testing, GPTZero achieves high accuracy rates while maintaining one of the lowest false positive rates in the industry, meaning it’s far less likely to wrongly accuse a student of using AI.

### How do I share an AI scan report with my student?

You can share results via link directly in GPTZero or download a PDF report to email or print.

### I'm an educator who has found AI-generated text by my students. What should I do?

When a scan suggests AI use, we recommend:

- Ask students to show their process (through edit history or in-person assessment).
- Use GPTZero's [Writing Reports](https://gptzero.me/writing-report) to replay how a student wrote.
- Check for patterns across multiple assignments rather than relying on a single instance.

### What can I do as an educator to reduce the risk of AI misuse in my classroom?

In short, by designing assignments that highlight the human value of education. For example:

- Help students understand the risks of using AI in their work, and the value of learning to express themselves.
- Ask for personal reflections or critiques of AI-generated answers.
- Collect multiple drafts over time.
- Incorporate non-text formats, like presentations, videos, or audio recordings.
- Set expectations upfront that work may be checked with GPTZero.
